Through out our religious education program, we strive to instill in students the ideals of following gospel values and the example of Christ. We instruct students in the social teaching of the Catholic Church as well as instill in them an appreciation for the universal church. Our students are given an opportunity to practice and develop their spiritual life through prayer, the study of God's Word, participation in church liturgy, and through service to others. We encourage our families and our community to join us on this journey to further the kingdom of God.
Pre-kindergarten uses the kindergarten program from Harcourt-Brace, "Called to Faith."
Kindergarten class uses "God Made the World" in which they focus on God, the creator.
First Grade class uses "God Loves Us" in which they focus on God's eternal love for us.
Second grade is a very special year in the life of a St. Mary's Catholic School student. Preparation for the first reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist are completed with the student and family. The process begins with parent meetings and includes the use of additional textbooks published by William H. Sadlier. Parents are expected to be directly involved through prayer, discussions, and activities with their child, and through the completion of special projects. The second grade textbook is "Jesus Shares God's Life."
Third grade students use "We are the Church" in which they focus on church and community.
Fourth grade centers on living the Ten Commandments through "God's Law Guides Us."
Fifth grade uses the text "We Meet Jesus in the Sacraments."
Sixth grade uses "We are God's People" in which they focus on the Old Testament.
Seventh and eighth grade covers two texts from the Sadlier series "Faith & Witness" program: "New Testament" during the first semester and "Church History" during the second semester.
Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation will be done with students in Grade Nine through their parish religious education program.
